Cable Theft Detection System (CTDS)
Cable theft has become a serious problem for Network Rail. The LED Studio
( ACIC) has a large installed base of Track Condition Monitoring Systems (TCMS) which can easily be modified to detect cable theft. A small voltage is applied to the cable at one end and this is measured at the other end. The input impedance of the 911 Analogue measuring instrument is very high so there is minimal current flow .

Loss of this standing voltage can be monitored and if the value falls below that specified, it will generate an alarm and send an SMS to up to 4 engineers. The input impedance of the 911 input amplifier is very high so it is suggested a 47K resistor be strapped across the deferential Hi and Lo terminals to prevent the input floating under open circuit conditions.
